The Red Raiders (36-15) will take on Army West Point (28-23) in the first game of the tournament at 11 a.m. on Friday. Tech will face either UCLA (35-18) or North Carolina (27-25), who will play each other later in the day at 6 p.m., on Saturday at either 2 p.m. or 8 p.m.

Television coverage for the remainder of the regional is to be determined. Every game will be streamed on ESPN3 and the ESPN app. Fans can listen to Red Raider games on the Texas Tech Sports Network on 97.3 FM, the 97.3 app, the TuneIn app and online at TexasTech.com.

The 2021 postseason marks the 15th regional appearances for the Red Raiders and the eighth Tech has hosted in Lubbock. It is the fifth-straight postseason the Red Raiders have hosted the first round of games, making Texas Tech the only school in the country to accomplish the feat.

Overall, Texas Tech is 39-33 in NCAA Tournament play with a 23-12 mark in Lubbock. Since 2014 under head coach Tim Tadlock, the Red Raiders are 26-15 in postseason play. Tech has been a No. 1 seed seven times and is 22-16.

Tech will host a familiar postseason opponent in Army, who travels to Lubbock for back-to-back regionals as the Red Raiders topped the Black Knights, 11-2, in the first game of the 2019 Lubbock Regional. Friday will be the third all-time meeting between Tech and Army, with the Red Raiders holding a 2-0 advantage in the series. Prior to 2019, Tech and Army had squared off one other time in February of 2008.

The Red Raiders also host teams from both coasts as UCLA and North Carolina make their first ever trips to the Hub City. Tech has a limited history with both teams dating back to the 90s. The Red Raiders are 1-0 all-time against UCLA with the only prior matchup coming in 1999. Meanwhile, Tech is 2-0 all-time against North Carolina, including 1-0 in the postseason. Most recently, Tech topped the Tar Heels in the first round of the 1998 Coral Gables Regional.

Tech was selected as the No. 8 national seed by the NCAA Selection Committee, making it the fifth-straight tournament Tech has been named a national seed. The Red Raiders started the year at No. 3 and have spent 15 out of a possible 16 weeks this season in the top 10 of at least one of the nationally-voted on polls.

The Red Raider offense continues to be ranked among the top-15 nationally in six categories, including home runs (9th), slugging (9th), scoring (14th), base on balls (5th), home runs per game (7th), and on base percentage (14th).

INSIDE THE SERIES - ARMY
• Friday's meeting will be the 3rd all-time between the two programs
• It's the second straight time Army has been placed in the Lubbock Regional
• The Red Raiders defeated the Black Knights, 11-2, to open the 2019 Lubbock Regional
• The only other time the two teams have met came back in 2008 in San Antonio
• The Red Raiders have outscored the Black Knights by a combined score of 27-4 in their two prior meetings
• The Red Raiders are 1-0 all-time against Army in the NCAA Tournament
• Texas Tech is 1-0 all-time against Army under head coach Tim Tadlock

INSIDE THE SERIES - UCLA
• The Red Raiders and Bruins have only met one time in the history of the two clubs
• The lone prior matchup came on opening weekend of 1999 in San Diego
• The Red Raiders earned a 13-5 victory over the Bruins

INSIDE THE SERIES - NORTH CAROLINA
• The Red Raiders are 2-0 all-time against the Tar Heels
• Tech is 1-0 all-time against UNC in NCAA Tournament action
• The last time the two teams met was in the 1998 Coral Gables Regional first round as Tech posted a 6-2 victory
• The only other matchup came on opening weekend in 1996 with Tech winning, 12-4
• Tech has outscored UNC by a combined score of 18-6 in its two prior matchups

RED RAIDERS AGAINST NCAA TOURNAMENT TEAMS
Under Tim Tadlock, the Red Raiders traditionally play a strong non-conference schedule, and the 2021 season was no different. Tech played eight teams that were selected for an NCAA Regional, holding up strong with a 12-7 record against said competition. Of those eight teams, five were ranked in the top 10 when Tech faced them, including three from the SEC on opening weekend at the College Baseball Showdown at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

5-STRAIGHT REGIONALS IN LUBBOCK
For the fifth-consecutive postseason, the Red Raiders were one of 16 host sites selected on Sunday night by the NCAA Selection Committee. It's the first time in school history Tech has hosted an NCAA Regional in five-straight seasons and the eighth overall. The Red Raiders have played regional action in Lubbock in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021. Texas Tech is the only program in the country to host every year since 2016.

TOUGH TO TAKE DOWN IN LUBBOCK
Under head coach Tim Tadlock, the Red Raiders have proven difficult to beat during postseason play in Lubbock. Tech has hosted a regional every season since 2016, advancing to super regionals three out of four times with 2017 as the lone outlier. Tech is 11-3 in regionals since 2016 with consecutive regional sweeps in 2018 and 2019. Tech has won its first two games of the regional in all four tournaments dating back to 2016.
