The three-day, three-round championship will be hosted, for the first time, at The Club at Carlton Woods Championship Course designed by Tom Fazio. Texas Tech is the designated host institution for the tournament after the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19.
Over the past month, the Red Raiders have experienced their best golf of the season, winning two team titles, while finishing runner-up in another. Last week, Texas Tech wrapped the Cowgirl Match Play by winning two of its three matchups, finishing the event in third place based on tiebreaker rules.
Head coach JoJo Robertson will send Sofia Garcia, Anna Dong, Cecilie Nielsen, Gala Dumez and Amy Taylor out for the Red Raiders this week as Tech will be searching to lock in an automatic berth to a NCAA Regional with a conference title. Tech has finished as high as third all-time at the Big 12 Championships with its most recent performance coming in 2017.
Garcia has recorded a top-10 finish in each of her two career visits to the conference tournament after closing the 2017 event in a tie for seventh and then eighth in 2019. She missed the 2018 tournament due to an injury, while the 2020 event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Red Raiders will be the No. 4 seed in the nine-team field that also includes No. 6 Oklahoma State, No. 15 Baylor and No. 18 Texas. Seeds were determined using the latest Golfstat rankings, which currently feature eight Big 12 schools ranked in the top 50 nationally.
Round one will tee off at 9 a.m. Sunday as the Red Raiders will be paired up with Oklahoma and Iowa State. Tee times for rounds two and three will be based off the team standings following each day.
Live coverage will be available throughout the Big 12 Championship via Golfstat.com.
