LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech softball will play at home for the first time in 360 days when the Red Raiders host Texas State for a doubleheader on Wednesday at Rocky Johnson Field.
The first game is scheduled for noon with the second game set for 2:30 p.m. Both games will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+.
Texas Tech (5-6) has not played at home since hosting the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic last season in which the Red Raiders finished the tournament 5-0 highlighted by a perfect game from Erin Edmoundson against Fairleigh Dickinson.
The Red Raiders picked up a pair of wins last weekend in the Razorback Invitational defeating North Dakota State and Southeast Missouri but dropped two extra-inning games and both games against 21st-ranked Arkansas.
Texas State (6-2) is coming off a successful weekend at the Lone Star Invitational with wins against No. 16 Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The Bobcats lost just one game, falling to Mississippi State in the second game of the doubleheader.
RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Karli Hamilton had a standout week in Fayetteville batting .500 with seven hits, two RBI and an on base percentage of .563. She tallied one double against No. 21 Arkansas and a triple against SEMO, her second of the season. Hamilton leads the team in batting average, posting a .387 hitting clip through the first two weeks. She is second on the squad in hits with 12, one hit behind team-leader Heaven Burton.
- Erin Edmoundson picked up her 50th career win on Sunday against Southeast Missouri. She ranks fourth in program history and is one win shy of tying Ashly Jacobs for third. Edmoundson was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 23 after posting a 2-0 record in the circle with wins over Texas A&M and Colorado State.
- The Red Raiders finally got the long balls going last weekend at the Razorback Invitational. Alanna Barraza hit the first home run of the season, the first of her career, in Tech's 6-1 win over North Dakota State. Barraza homered again on Saturday against the Bison. Zoe Jones joined in on the action hitting her first home run of the season against SEMO on Sunday to lift Texas Tech to a 7-1 win against the Redhawks.
- Red Raider catcher Kelcy Leach has been a problem for opposing base runners this season. Leach has gunned down six of the nine batters who have attempted to steal on her including three in Tech's win against SEMO on Sunday.
- Texas Tech holds an 18-14 series advantage over Texas State heading into Wednesday's doubleheader. The Bobcats have claimed the last three wins over the Red Raiders; however, Tech has won the most recent meetings in Lubbock.
