LUBBOCK, Texas – It was a historic day at Rocky Johnson Field for Texas Tech (16-10) as the Red Raiders put up a staggering 32 runs in a pair of run-rule wins over Tarleton State (11-17) to close out the Jeannine McHaney Memorial Classic.

Senior Karli Hamilton broke the program record for RBI in a game (9) and grand slams in a game (2), accounting for a third of the Texas Tech runs in game one. Her two grand slams tied an NCAA record and only 13 players in NCAA history have recorded more RBI in a game.

The Red Raiders tied the NCAA record for grand slams in an inning with two, one each from Hamilton and Peyton Blythe in the bottom of the third of game one. Only seven other teams have reached this feat previously.

Missy Zoch tossed a complete game no-hitter in the Red Raiders record-breaking win over Tarleton State. The no-hitter was the second of Zoch's career and her first as a Red Raider.

The first Red Raider run came across in the first inning when Zoe Jones doubled to left center to score Yvonne Whaley, who reached on a single.

Tech added five runs in the second inning off a single from Heaven Burton and Hamilton's first grand slam of the game. Burton smoked a line drive at the third baseman that tipped off her glove allowing Payton Jackson to score, keeping the bases juiced for Hamilton who hit a 2-0 pitch over the center field wall to make it 6-0 Tech.

The Red Raiders blew things open even more in the third with a 13-run inning that saw two grand slams off two different pitchers. The scoring started after an error to open the inning and a wild pitch put a runner in scoring position for Kelcy Leach, who singled to right to score Jackson. Riley Love followed with a single to put two runners on for Whaley who put down a bunt single that was overthrown by the catcher allowing one run to score. With the bases loaded again, Hamilton stepped to the plate and tallied her record-breaking second grand slam of the game to center field. Tech would score three more runs on four hits to make it 15-0 and load up the bases again. Blythe entered the game to pinch hit for Whaley and sent a 2-2 pitch over the center field wall for the Red Raiders third grand slam of the game and second of the inning. Tech finished the inning with a 19-0 lead.

Tech tallied its final four runs in the bottom of the fourth off errors and a single from Leach. Hamilton's record-breaking ninth RBI of the game came in the bottom of the fourth when she singled to center field to score Love from third and put the Red Raiders up 23-0.

Zoch (7-3) tied a season-high with eight strikeouts and allowed just four Texans to reach base in the complete game no-hitter.

Ten different Red Raiders recorded a hit and five recorded multiple hits. Whaley and Leach each went 3-for-3 at the plate, Hamilton went 3-for-5 with her team leading nine RBI.

After a couple of scoreless innings from both sides, the Red Raiders broke through first on a wild play in the bottom of the third. After a leadoff walk from Whaley, Burton singled to third but an errant throw from the third baseman allowed Whaley to score. Burton scored on the same play as the throw went into the outfield and was mishandled by the right fielder.

After a solo home run in the top of the fifth cut the lead in half 2-1, the Red Raiders answered with five runs in the bottom of the inning for some insurance. An error, a walk, and a single from Arriana Villa loaded the bases to start the Red Raider fifth. Blythe, pinch hitting for Abbie Orrick, drew a walk to bring in one run and kept the bases loaded for Jackson who singled up the middle to score two more. Whaley then doubled to right center to plate a pair of runs and give Texas Tech the 7-1 advantage.

Kennedy Crites walked the Red Raiders off in the bottom of the sixth on a double to right center that scored Orrick and Jackson.

Erin Edmoundson (7-4) pitched the complete game for the Red Raiders striking out seven batters and allowing one run.

Whaley, Jackson and Crites each tallied two hits and two RBI to lead the Red Raiders offensively.
