CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The state once again has a red county on its COVID-19 daily alert map.
Hardy County is now red following a jump in its COVID-19 infection rate and its positivity test rate.
It’s been about three weeks since there was a red county on the map. Hardy County has an infection rate of more than 27 positive cases over a 14-day period. It’s positvity test rate is near 10%.
Kanawha County has also showed a slight increase in cases moving the county out of the green map designation Tuesday to yellow.
Tuesday’s release of case information from the state Department of Health and Human Resources shows 341 new cases and 15 additional deaths including the death of an 81-year old male from Jackson County, a 64-year old female from Lincoln County, a 68-year old female from Logan County, an 85-year old male from Boone County, a 53-year old male from Lincoln County, a 53-year old female from Cabell County, an 81-year old male from Marion County, a 64-year old male from Kanawha County, a 71-year old female from Wayne County, a 79-year old female from Wood County, a 71-year old male from Preston County, an 80-year old male from Wood County, an 80-year old male from Cabell County, a 69-year old female from Logan County and a 74-year old female from Boone County.
Active COVID -19 cases did drop slightly Tuesday to 5,176 but hospitalizations increased from Monday’s patient count of 151 to 165.
The DHHR said more than 246,000 residents have now been fully vaccinated.
