From the Big 12 will travel Baylor, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU and Texas. A strong group of non-conference visitors will be highlighted by fellow top-25 programs Arizona, BYU and Southern Cal. Arizona State will also be in attendance.
"This is a really important weekend for us," said head coach Wes Kittley. "Six schools from the conference, plus these non-conference teams. Throws, sprints, jumps. It's all going to be incredible competition."
Tech will have national leaders going in their top events on both the track and the runway. Courtney Lindsey, the top-ranked 200m runner in both the U.S. and the world, will run the race for the first time since his blistering 20.45 at the Corky Classic. He will also run on the 4x400 relay, which will be vying for a national mark. It will be his second appearance on the relay after debuting on the second leg two weeks ago and turning in a 46.99 split. He was edged out in leg time only by Chancellor Stephenson, who ran a blistering 46.58. Stephenson, who has yet to run an individual race yet, will get in on the action with the 400m – his specialty event – before joining Lindsey on the relay.
Monae' Nichols, who Wednesday was named to The Bowerman's mid-indoor watch list, will compete in both the long jump and triple jump. Nichols, who leads the country and ranks third in the world in the long, will be in a great field of competition, with which she hopes to propel herself to an even better mark. Competing in the long with her will be fellow Bowerman watch list member Ruth Usoro. The national leader in the triple jump will take another week off from her marquee event to improve her mark in the long jump.
Gabe Oladipo, who has broken his own school record in the weight throw every week this season, will again throw both the weight and shot put. Kayli Johnson, who has PR'd in the shot every week this season, will look to continue her streak of strong throws as well.
Friday's action will begin at 3 p.m. with field events, followed by track events at 5 p.m. On Saturday, field events will begin at 11 a.m. with running starting at noon. The meet will be streamed on Big 12 Now on ESPN+. The Link Lonk
