
NEW BEDFORD — Near the midway point of 2021's first month, this week's Department of Public Health report on the latest community COVID data, released Thursday, once again had all of Greater New Bedford in the "red" or high-risk category for spread of the virus.

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported an additional 5,545 confirmed COVID-19 cases Thursday, bringing the statewide total to 433,297 since the start of the pandemic.
State health officials also added 74 new confirmed COVID-19-related deaths to the state's total, which is now 13,156.
An estimated 91,396 cases are active across Massachusetts, according to the report.
The report said 2,226 patients with confirmed coronavirus cases were hospitalized in Massachusetts, of which 454 were reported to be in an intensive care unit.
The state says there have been 324,203 recoveries.
New data is typically published daily around 5 p.m. and weekly reports are typically released on Thursdays, also around 5 p.m.
