Expedia is closing its offline Local Expert operations in Orlando and Hawaii at the end of January due to pandemic pressures on the travel industry. Expedia will still offer local activity bookings through its online platform.
400 acres of new habitat for birds and animals is coming to North Breton Island, more than doubling its size. Callan Marine has begun work under a $55 million dollar contract to pump almost 6 million cubic yards of sand from the Gulf of Mexico onto the barrier island. The press release says that’s enough sand to fill the Empire State Building more than four times.
The Boeing 737 Max carries US passengers for the first time in nearly two years today. American Airlines flies the jet on a round-trip route between Miami and New York. More than half of respondents to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll said they wouldn’t be likely to fly in a Boeing 737 Max. Just over a third said say they’d likely fly in it once it’s been in the air for six months or more.
Fresh closing records to start the last trading week of 2020. The Dow gained 204 points, the Nasdaq added 95 and the S&P grew 32. Futures are pointed to a higher market open.
