STEUBENVILLE — The Steubenville girls basketball team snapped its three-game losing streak by besting St. Clairsville, 53-50, in overtime on Saturday.
It also marked Big Red’s first win at home this season.
Kylie Maxwell led Steubenville (3-3) with 19 points. Makayla Abram tallied 15 points, while Maggi Cucarese hit a pair of 3-pointers.
Big Red tentatively hosts River on Wednesday.

Edison 50, Toronto 46
TORONTO — The Edison girls basketball team garnered its first victory this season, defeating Toronto 50-46 on Saturday.
Olivia Huff led the Wildcats (1-6) with 16 points. Savanna Ankrom and Pam Johnson evenly divide 22 points.
For the Red Knights (1-1), who played for the first time following a third quarantine, Maddie Anderson had a game-high 18 points. Kennedy Cottrell produced 10 points, and Jensyn Jackson added eight.
Toronto tentatively travels to Buckeye Local on Monday, while Edison hosts Martins Ferry on Wednesday.

Beallsville 56, Catholic Central 28
STEUBENVILLE–Beallsville pitched a first-quarter shutout and cruised to a convincing 56-28 girls basketball victory over Catholic Central Saturday inside the Mickey Barber Gymnasium.
The Blue Devils, who posted their initial win in three tries, led 7-0 after the opening eight minutes and were up, 22-10, at the intermission.
Three players reached double figures for the winners. Hallie Boomer tallied a game-high 17 points, while Makenna Phillips netted 16. She connected three times from behind the arc. Harley Nalley contributed 10.
Katie Zatta paced the now 1-3 Crusaders with 14 points. Ellen Rohde added six.
In the two-quarter junior varsity game, Central posted a 13-12 win. Theresa Kerker led the Crusaders with four points and Jackie O’Karma had three.
Central is idle until Dec. 28 when it tentatively has a home game against Conotton Valley.

CADIZ — The Steubenville boys basketball team fell to Malvern, 83-54, on Saturday at Harrison Central High School.
Brenton Jones led Big Red (2-2) with 12 points. Zion Sawyer tallied 11 points, and Quinn McCoy chipped in seven.
Derek Hutchison led Malvern with 26 points, while Michael Minor had 25.
Steubenville tentatively hosts Harrison Central on Tuesday.
