SPARTA, NJ- A man from Augusta driving a black Lincoln MKZ caught the attention of Police Officer Brian Porter when he ran a red light. On November 12 around midnight Porter saw John Borduin, 41 go through the intersection of Woodport Road and Sparta Avenue, police said.
Porter stopped Borduin. When the officer spoke with the driver he smelled alcohol in the car. Borduin admitted he had two drinks with dinner, police said.
Porter had Borduin perform field sobriety tests. Borduin was taken into custody and brought to Sparta Police Department Headquarters for processing. After a breath test he was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving and failure to stop on a red, police said.
Borduin was given a court date and released to a sober adult. The car was impounded for 12 hours as required.
