COLUMBUS, Ohio- (WTAP) - Two southeastern Ohio counties are at the next-to-highest level on Ohio’s color-coded public COVID-19 alert map.
Athens and Meigs counties, previously “orange”, now have risen to the “red” level. Washington, Noble, Morgan, Monroe and Gallia counties remain at level 2/”orange”.
The majority of Ohio’s 88 counties are now at the “red” level, with four counties now at the most serious level: “purple”.
Athens County was previously “red” at one point during the summer.
The map was released late Wednesday afternoon, a day ahead of normal schedule, due to the Thanksgiving holiday.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s next scheduled briefing is expected to take place next Tuesday, although it could be sooner if circumstances in the pandemic warrant.
