
CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Ten additional fatalities blamed on Covid 19 are included in the day’s Covid 19 update and one county on the statewide alert map has now slipped back into the “red” status.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources confirmed today the following fatalities. A 40 year old man and a 42 year old woman from Kanawha County, two men from Monroe County age 71 and 77. The others included a 70-year old woman from Taylor County, an 86-year old man from Logan County, a 52-year old man from Wayne County, a 73-year old man from Cabell county, a 77-year old woman from Grant county, and an 88 year old woman from Nicholas county.
The state’s death toll increased with Saturday’s report to 212 fatalities blamed on the virus.
The state added 143 new positive cases in the past 24 hours. There have been a total of 9,967 positive cases in West Virginia since testing began in March. The number of active cases Saturday was 1,820. The state’s daily positive infection rate was 2.47 percent.
The county-by-county color coded alert map revealed Monroe County back into the red status with an average rate of 32.32 percent positive cases per 100,000 in a rolling seven day average. Five counties were in the orange status: Kanawha, Fayette, Logan, Mingo, and Wyoming Counties. The rest of the state was either green or yellow.
