WEST VIRGINIA (WVVA) -- Several counties in our viewing area have moved into new categories on the WVDHHR's County Alert System.

Monroe County is the only county in West Virginia in the red category. As of Saturday morning, Monroe County averaged 32.82 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people.
In its last COVID-19 update, the Monroe County Health Department reported 113 total confirmed cases. 78 are considered active.
Springfield Center, a Monroe County nursing home, has seen 69 of those cases. 66 remain active, and 4 people there have died.
Wyoming and Fayette Counties have also moved into the orange, with Wyoming County averaging 10.51 cases per 100,000 people. Fayette County's average, as of Saturday morning, is 12.46 cases per 100,000 people.
Counties in the orange category prior to the first day of school on September 8th will not be permitted to return to in-person instruction.
