COLUMBUS, Ohio — Gov. Mike DeWine announced on Thursday that Cuyahoga County has moved out of the state's Level 3 (red) on the Public Health Advisory System.

The county averaged 102.1 cases per 100,000, from July 29 to August 11. The actual cases were 1,261. Last week’s average was 114.6 case per 100,000. The CDC level for high incidence is 100 per 100,000.

While the news is good for Cuyahoga County, two other Northeast Ohio counties have moved into Level 3 (red) status. For the first time, Lorain County is on the list. Trumbull County is also back at Level 3.

DeWine said much of Lorain County's growth in cases is due to spread from social situations. "Family gatherings where people are in close contact and not wearing masks," he explained. "They let their guard down."

Erie County is still at Level 3 as well.
