Law enforcement investigating unknown red substance strewn across Capitol steps
Alabama State Troopers are investigating a red substance splattered across the steps of the Capitol on Wednesday.
About 5 p.m., troopers huddled around the steps and took notes. The viscous fluid left a trail from the bottom of the steps to the top.
State Trooper Michael Carswell said troopers determined the substance was "a non-permanent tomato-like paste."
Metal barricades were placed around the area, Carswell said.
No arrests have been made and no additional information was available late Wednesday, Carswell said.
