The total covid caseload crossed the 90k mark in Karnataka with the addition of 5,072 cases on Saturday and 72 fatalities.
Bengaluru continued to be the major contributor with 2,036 cases (total 43,503) followed by Belagavi-341, Ballari-222 and Dakshina Kannada-218 and nine other districts crossing the century mark.
A 36-year-old killed himself after giving poison to his four-year-old daughter and 28-year-old wife fearing that his daughter might have been infected with covid.
According to Dharwad police, the deceased has been identified as Mounesh Pattar.Pattar’s colleagues had tested positive recently and his daughter too had a fever a few days back.
According to a death note, he feared that it may be covid and he could have been the reason that the disease was transmitted to her, so he decided to take this extreme step.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary TM Vijay Bhaskar has instructed the officials not to delay sample results beyond 72 hours of collection.
